For a former police commissioner, Charles Ramsay is not a lot of a detective.
On CNN’s New Day this morning, former Philly police commissioner and senior CNN legislation enforcement analyst Ramsay twice confessed to being stumped for the explanations behind the present wave of smash and seize robberies.
“Most of the younger folks we arrested had no earlier felony data. And why they had been getting concerned in one thing like this I do not know . . . So I don’t know what’s driving this.”
However all of the whereas, the reply was staring Ramsay within the face. The truth is, he really provided it himself! Ramsay:
“The punishment for this sort of crime may be very, very minimal. Normally it is a misdemeanor. There are some DAs which have flat-out mentioned they’re now not going to prosecute shoplifting.”
Trigger and impact, Commissioner Ramsay—howdy? Individuals are going to commit crimes if there are few arrests, and little or no punishment for individuals who are arrested!
Be aware: Ramsay referred to the folks committing these crimes as “youngsters, youthful adults.” Somebody wants to tell him that the authorized nomenclature is “yuts.”

KAITLIN COLLINS: Let’s herald CNN senior law-enforcement analyst and former Philadelphia police commissioner Charles Ramsay.
Charles, you simply heard Christine’s report there. These assaults are so brazen. And naturally at this time is a giant procuring day. However what’s legislation enforcement imagined to do about this? Becaue we haven’t actually seen a number of arrests being made after these assaults are occurring? So what are they imagined to do in response?
CHARLES RAMSAY: A number of years in the past in Philadelphia, we had one thing related happening, the place we had folks, principally youngsters, youthful adults, take part in issues like this.

The punishment for this sort of crime may be very, very minimal. Normally, it’s a misdemeanor. There are some DAs which have flat-out mentioned they’re now not going to prosecute shoplifting. And this isn’t shoplifting. That is far worse than shoplifting. So, there’s loads that must be completed if we wish to get a deal with on it.
